Story #2 Pennsylvania one of the middle Atlantic States is at the center of the arch formed by the original Thirteen States of the union. My ancestors settled here. This is where I was born. Connellsville Pa though holds a memory of climing mountains, going bare foot, snow and riding horses. Cold winter mornings my brothers, sister and I would awake to the aroma of bacon frying in the pan, crackling of eggs being dropped with care into hot drippings, Pan cakes & Maple syrup. This gave us reason to pull our self out of cozy bed's. Quickly we snatched up school clothes kept warm through the night from under our mattress. Then scurry to the only warm room in our house the kitchen. Clamoring about the wood stove, attempting to dress for the long cold walk to school. When! "Stomp-stomp-stomp," of snowy boots on frozen porch. Kitchen door swings wide, gusty freezing air flooded the warm space. Followed by my father's arms full of fire wood. He would rub his hand's together and say. "yes -er- eee-Bob it's cold out there.!!
